Welcome

Welcome to our little corner of the internet! We hope that you find information here that will help you and your family grow closer to God and His calling for you as Catholic Christians. We know that the world today is fast-paced and full of challenges. It is difficult to raise future saints amidst the many modern attempts to entice our children (and us!) off the path that leads to heaven. However, the Lord has confidently entrusted these young souls to our care and it is our duty, our vocation, to fulfill this calling with diligence and faithfulness.

Perhaps you are looking for a place to increase your own understanding of the Catholic faith.  Maybe you yearn for a deeper relationship with our Lord.  Perhaps you’d simply like to connect with other Catholics for prayer, encouragement, and fellowship.  Well, you’ve come to the right place!

Jesus said, “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.  The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house.  But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.”  Matthew 7: 24-25.  We hope that this blog will be a valuable resource and will help you to build your family’s foundation on the solid rock of Jesus Christ and His Church.

Thank you for stopping by – we hope you’ll visit again soon!  Have a blessed day!

Planned Parenthood in Aurora

I'm writing today with an urgent CALL TO ACTION. Planned Parenthood
is trying to expand in Aurora, and I need your help to stop them.

Several weeks ago, I was tipped off that Planned Parenthood was
attempting a significant expansion in Aurora, expanding their
parking lot by a whopping 27 spaces.

Since then, I've closely watched the process in the Aurora city
government, attending public meetings and demanding documents from
the city through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

And now the time has come to ACT.

Planned Parenthood's petition comes before the Planning and Development
committee NEXT THURSDAY 10/15, and we've got to fight them.

I'll explain what we need to do in a minute, but I want to explain
the background here by asking one simple question:

---> WHY does Planned Parenthood want to expand their parking? <---

It can't be because they actually need the spaces. We've got people
out there all the time, and their lot hasn't been full to overflowing
in months.

Even zoning administrator Ed Sieben admitted to the Planning
Commission last week that Planned Parenthood had offered no
concrete proof that they need more parking.

In fact, the city staff only want to let Planned Parenthood put in
11 more spaces -- 16 fewer than PP wants.

Through my FOIA requests, I found out that Planned Parenthood is
claiming they need the additional parking for SECURITY.

In an e-mail to the city, Planned Parenthood's landscaper, Tim
Dutton with McAdam Landscaping, said they need the parking because
"staff and patients are being constantly harassed by the protesters."

Dutton goes on to make this outrageous claim "It's only a matter of
time until one of those peaceful protesters suddenly becomes violent."

That's right. Planned Parenthood is ONCE AGAIN claiming that
pro-lifers like you and me are prone to violence -- an outright lie.

Dutton also told the City that PP staff routinely have to park at
Dominick's and Blockbuster, but pro-lifers are out there ALL the
time and haven't seen this happening.

I think the REAL reason PP wants more parking is that our zoning
case against them argues that they built the place with 26 fewer
spaces than required by law, with the wrong size and spacing.

In other words, it looks to me like PP is using "security" as a
cover to get the parking spaces they failed to put in during their
secretive, deceptive building process back in 2007.

Jamming more spaces in there now -- tearing up landscaping and
pushing their parking lot even closer to the nearby homes -- is not
the answer.

The real answer here is for Planned Parenthood to finally be held
accountable for the lies and deception behind their permitting
process -- and the lies they're telling about us right now!

And now for the ACTION ITEMS:

FIRST, call AND e-mail the aldermen on the Planning and Development
Committee and tell them not to approve Planned Parenthood's
expansion request -- not even the scaled back plan the city staff wants.

When you call, give THREE reasons for the committee to reject the
parking scheme:

     1. The zoning ordinance requires 10-foot-wide parking
spaces, but PP's spaces are only 9 feet wide.

     2. The zoning ordinance requires a 35 foot setback for
parking spaces, but PP only has 30.

     3. PP's stated reason for the new spaces, "security," is
        a total sham.

Here's the contact information for the P&D Committee:

Alderman Mike Saville, Chair (6th Ward)
     630-896-9895
     smewmaw@aurora-il.org

     Abby Schuler (1st Ward)
     630-710-0331
     aldermanschuler@aol.com

     Rick Mervine (8th Ward)
     331-452-5136
     aldermanmervine@aol.com

SECOND, please join me at the Planning and Development Committee
meeting next week:

EVENT: Planning and Development Committee Meeting
     WHEN: Thursday, October 15, 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: 5th Floor, Aurora City Hall, 44 E. Downer Place
     MAP: http://fvfapp.org/cityhall.map

Let's seize this opportunity to get the City of Aurora to hold PP
accountable for their lies!

Yours for Life,

 -- Eric

P.S. If you've still got it, wear your "Planned Parenthood Lies to
You" button to the meeting Thursday.

Pro-Life Action League Plans Protest at City Hall

On Wednesday, October 7th, the Pro-Life Action League will hold a protest in front of Chicago’s City Hall. The demonstration will be held in opposition to an ordinance the City Counsel will be voting on later that day. The ordinance, if passed, would restrict the access of pro-life sidewalk counselors in front of abortion clinics.

Eric Scheidler, Executive Director of the Pro-Life Action League will be holding a press conference at the site of the protest (121 N. LaSalle Street in downtown Chicago) which will begin at 9 A.M.

On September 9th, at the behest of Planned Parenthood, Alderman Vi Daley (no relation to Chicago Mayor Richard Daley) proposed an amendment to the City’s Disorderly Conduct Ordinance [PDF],  ProposedBubbleZo neOrdinance creating a 50 foot bubble zone around “health facilities.”

Inside that 50-foot Bubble Zone, no one would be allowed to approach anyone going into an abortion clinic closer than eight feet. This would make sidewalk counseling virtually impossible.

“The obvious aim of this ordinance is to keep pro-lifers far away from abortion clinics and those entering ‘health facilities,’ ” said Joe Scheidler, Founder of the Pro-Life Action League.

“I can’t emphasize enough how fatal this Bubble Zone would be,” said Eric Scheidler, Executive Director of the Pro-Life Action League. “Pro-Life counselors are saving babies every week by talking intimately with abortion-bound mothers outside the abortuaries. The Bubble Zone would effectively KILL this kind of compassionate outreach.”

If passed, the ordinance would levy a fine of $500 for anyone simply trying to talk to a woman about choosing life for her baby. Many legal experts agree if the Chicago City Council passes the ordinance lobbied for by Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, and signed into law by Mayor Daley, the bill would not pass judicial muster and would likely be overturned in a court of law.

“IFI is proud to follow the lead of the Pro-Life Action League in challenging this proposed ordinance,” said Dave Smith, IFI’s Executive Director. “The Chicago City Council would do well to uphold their oath to the Illinois and U.S. Constitutions which guarantees the right to freedom of expression and speech. Targeting one specific group of citizens at specific locations is absolutely chilling. The government should never use its power to intimidate or disenfranchise people whose speech they disagree with.”

“The fact abortionists are trying so hard to stop sidewalk counseling is a powerful sign of how effective it is,” added Joe Scheidler. “Please join our efforts to save sidewalk counseling in Chicago.”

The Pro-Life Action League suggests steps that can be taken by those who are in opposition to Chicago City Council’s proposed ordinance.

A Pro-Life Action League Alert explains what citizens can do to express opposition to the proposed amendment to Chicago’s Disorderly Conduct ordinance creating a “bubble zone” at “health facilities”.

Take ACTION: 1. CALL Mayor Daley’s Office TODAY at 312-744-3300. Tell them you oppose this unconstitutional restriction on your freedom of speech.

2. Join the PROTEST at City Hall on Wednesday 10/7 at 9 A.M.

Meet us at 121 N. LaSalle Street in downtown Chicago to oppose the “bubble zone.”

3. FORWARD this message to all your Chicago-area friends. We’ve got to flood Mayor Daley’s office with calls against the “Bubble Zone” ordinance. Mobilize your friends and family!
